Get up close to the local attractions
Gjerrild Nordstrand is a popular, family-friendly area, ideal for a relaxing holiday. The beach, with its fine sand and shallow waters, is perfect for both sunbathing and wading along the shore, with the Blue Flag designation ensuring clean and safe waters for swimming. The nearby dunes are perfect for exploring, and the area is famous for its excellent amber-hunting opportunities along the beach. If you enjoy fishing, Gjerrild Klint is one of Djursland’s top spots for sea trout fishing. Birdwatchers will love the cliff area, one of Denmark's most popular locations for observing both local and migratory birds.
The region is filled with lovely hiking and biking trails, and from the holiday home, you can cycle to Bønnerup, a quiet and charming destination. The historic town of Grenaa is only a 20-minute drive away, where you can stroll through cozy pedestrian streets, enjoy a nice meal at one of the many sidewalk cafés, or visit the Museum Østjylland. The Kattegat Center, where you can get up close to sharks and other marine life, is also a must-see. From Grenaa Harbor, you can take a ferry to the Swedish town of Varberg or the small island of Anholt—both offering unique experiences.
For families, a visit to Djurs Sommerland is a must. Located about 30 minutes away, it’s the largest amusement park in Scandinavia and known for its thrilling, state-of-the-art rides. The area also boasts several castles, including Meilgaard and the agricultural museum Gl. Estrup, which offers insight into the region’s history.

Recommendations from Holiday home owner
We are two siblings who inherited the house from our parents, which makes it especially meaningful to us. We have many wonderful memories here and still love spending as much time in the house as possible. However, as we both live far away, we don't get to use it as often as we would like. That's why we're happy that others can also enjoy the house, the fantastic natural surroundings, and the special sense of peace and tranquillity that the area has to offer. The house has the feel of a personal family home rather than a traditional holiday rental, and we hope our guests will feel that too.
The view almost speaks for itself, and it's one of the things we enjoy most when we're here ourselves. To make the most of the location, we recommend lighting a fire in the fire pit towards the end of the day and spending some time outside, listening to the waves in the background.
When we have some time off, we enjoy playing games or picking up a book. You'll find everything on the bookshelf, and of course, guests are welcome to use it all during their stay.
We also love exploring the nature surrounding the house. The area is fantastic for both walks and runs along the coast and through the beautiful countryside. One of our own favourite outings is a trip to Bønnerup Harbour, where we buy fresh fish to take home and finish with a big ice cream at the harbour, enjoying the atmosphere and the view of the boats.
